Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Dominic Iorfa’s performance in Huddersfield win
New Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk got his reign at the club off to a winning start by beating Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield 2-0 away from home yesterday.
Danny Cowley was also making his bow in the opposite dugout – he perhaps could have been in the Wednesday hotseat had things panned out differently – but Monk won the battle of the new bosses.
He told : “You have to be pleased with any win in this division and particularly at what is a difficult place to come to with a new manager as well.
“We did our jobs, we scored at the right times I thought, and it was a thoroughly professional performance. Defensively and offensively we got it right and credit to the players because they carried out what we wanted them to do and they deserve the three points.”

A clean sheet away from home in his maiden match clearly pleased Monk and 24-year-old central defender Dominic Iorfa was a key part of that.
And many Wednesday fans took to Twitter to praise the defender’s performance in the backline, as they were full of praise for his dominant display.
Iorfa has a lot of ability and can still improve further provided he gets the consistency in his game and makes the most of working under a former central defender in Monk.
