Sheffield Wednesday fans fuming with Barry Bannan after Luton defeat

Sheffield Wednesday sit 12th in the Championship after a 1-0 defeat to bottom club Luton Town last night.

James Collins netted the game’s only goal to lift the Hatters away from the bottom and pile the pressure on Garry Monk.

The Owls are now nine points away from the play-off places with 14 games left to play with no wins in their last five league outings.

Earlier in the campaign, Wednesday had threatened to mount a serious promotion case but they have tailed off badly.

Last night was a pretty embarrassing defeat at Kenilworth Road with Luton securing just their eighth win of the campaign.

One player who bore the brunt of supporters’ criticism last night was midfield maestro Barry Bannan.

The Scottish performer has been particularly poor in recent weeks and he showed no signs of improvement last night.

The 30-year-old is badly out of form and desperately needs a performance to come from somewhere in the coming weeks.

Despite Wednesday supporters feeling disgruntled about Bannan, the ex-Aston Villa youngster does have seven assists to his name this season.

Last night, however, he was all over the place at times and Wednesday fans took to Twitter.

Here is a selection of tweets from Wednesday supporters regarding Bannan’s showing at Luton:
