Sheffield United star comments on Dom Calvert-Lewin post, after brace against Sheffield Wednesday
Dom Calvert-Lewin put Sheffield Wednesday to the sword on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup as Everton eased past the Championship side to win 2-0 – and Sheffield United man Oli McBurnie has reacted on Instagram.
The 22-year-old marked his 100th appearance for Everton with a well-taken brace to ease the pressure on manager Marco Silva. Indeed, it was two of Silva’s signings that provided assists for the England Under-21 international.
A cross-field ball from Djibril Sidibe saw Calvert-Lewin control before smashing an excellent effort off the underside of the bar and into the net for Everton’s first. He doubled his tally after Alex Iwobi put the ball on a plate for the striker to tap home.
He should have had a third but his header was saved, and after the match he posted on Instagram. After coming through the Sheffield United academy and playing 12 times for the Blades, Calvert-Lewin was delighted to score against Wednesday.

The rivalry between the two Sheffield sides remains one of the most heated derbies in English football, but Calvert-Lewin did not let the prospect of facing his boyhood side’s biggest rivals phase him as he took his Everton tally to 20.
Sheffield United completed a club-record £20million move to sign McBurnie from Swansea City in the summer and the Scottish striker is already a hit with Blades fans. He commented on Calvert-Lewin’s Instagram after the match.
