Report: Sheffield United ‘reach out’ to ex-Bayern Munich star Franck Ribéry
Premier League newcomers Sheffield United have made an audacious attempt to contact global superstar Franck Ribéry,
The Frenchman has spent the last 12 years at Bayern Munich scoring 124 goals and registering 182 assists from 425 appearances.
Ribéry, 36, left the Allianz Arena at the end of the season and can now sign for a new club on a free transfer.
The Blades defied the odds and won promotion to the top-flight last season and boss Chris Wilder will now look towards new recruits.

Signing the man who finished third in the 2013 Ballon d’Or could have obstacles, however. The report claims that Ribéry will still attempt to earn a contract with a major European outfit, although the Blades have ‘reached out’ to the star.
Ribéry has 81 caps for France and was part of the squad that finished runners-up behind Italy in 2006.
TBR Verdict
French football legend Ribéryattracting interest from South Yorkshire-based Sheffield United is probably as bizarre as it’s going to get this summer.
If ever there was a transfer rumour that resembled something from Football Manager this is certainly it.

It does seem somewhat unlikely that the Blades can pull this one off, given his desire to earn a deal at a top European club.
Ribéry has never played in the Premier League, however, and a crack at the English game before he retires might prove appealing.
