Report: Sheffield United interested in 16-goal Championship star
Premier League new boys Sheffield United are keen to bolster their attacking ranks with the signing of Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga,
The £15 million signing from Nottingham Forest is expected to be the subject of interest after Boro failed to reach the Championship play-offs.
A proven goalscorer at Championship level, the 26-year-old has finished as the club’s top scorer in both of his seasons at the Riverside Stadium. He ended the 2018/19 campaign with an impressive 16 goals.

Blades boss Chris Wilder will naturally target some reinforcements following promotion. He will probably look at targets in all positions and Assombalonga seems like an early link to add some depth up front.
Boro might have to tighten the belt somewhat after not winning promotion. Assombalonga’s goalscoring prowess makes him an asset to the club and they could choose to cash in on their star.
TBR Verdict
Signing the former Forest man would represent a risk for the Blades.
For starters, he hasn’t played in the Premier League before and that in itself casts an element of doubt over a potential deal.

There is a sense as well that Assombalonga needs a fair few chances before he hits the back of the net. The Blades are going to be fancied to go straight back down so will need a striker to be clinical when called upon.
The 26-year-old scored fewer goals than Billy Sharp last season too, so is he really an upgrade on what they currently have? If the Blades are going to spend say £10 million on a striker, they can probably attract better than Assombalonga.
