Shaun Wright-Phillips disagrees with fan on Instagram, regarding Tottenham’s Dele Alli
Shaun Wright-Phillips was full of praise for Dele Alli after the England playmaker scored a stunning overhead kick for Tottenham on Thursday – and has disagreed with a supporter on Instagram regarding Jose Mourinho’s view of his goal.
Dele, 24, had a hand in three of Tottenham’s four goals against Wolfsberger on Thursday night as Spurs earned a comfortable 4-0 win – and progressed into the last 16 with an 8-1 aggregate win. He scored one, creating two more.
Clocking up his 17th appearance of the season in all competitions, Dele opened the scoring – starting a move, he creeped into the box and found the bottom corner after producing a wonderful bicycle kick from Matt Doherty’s cross.
Dele then created the second – curling a delightful cross to Carlos Vinicius who headed home. He also created Gareth Bale’s strike, getting the weight of pass perfect for the Welshman, and Wright-Phillips praised him on Instagram.
A supporter commented on Wright-Phillips’ post on Instagram, suggesting that manager Mourinho would be “fuming” to see Dele score such a wonderful effort, given the public criticism of the midfielder this season.
But Wright-Phillips responded, disagreeing that Mourinho would have been annoyed to see Dele net an overhead kick – instead claiming he hopes to see the former MK Dons man start more often for the North London club.
