Shaqiri dismisses talk of Liverpool exit, shares his ‘big dream’ for next season
Xherdan Shaqiri wants to win the Premier League with Liverpool next season after getting his hands on the Champions League for a second time.
in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, Shaqiri talked down the prospect of him leaving Anfield after just one season.
He : “Is this why I came to Liverpool? Yes. This club needs to win titles, and it’s a good start to win this one, no? Now next year we are going to go again and try to win the Premier League.
“That’s my big dream, to win the Premier League with this club. It just feels amazing. It’s been a long time since Liverpool won this title, 2005. This is just the start and we can win many more titles.”
Shaqiri was part of the Bayern Munich squad who won the Champions League in 2013 – and just like Liverpool, it came the year after they were the beaten finalist.
The Swiss international looked likely to be the first cab off the rank in terms of squad depth this season but looked to fade out of favour as the title race heated up.
But his comments make it plain that he’s happy and settled at Anfield – ready to go again and clinch the title.
