Shane Duffy sends Instagram message to Rangers man after Celtic suffer defeat

Rangers finally ended the nine-year wait for a victory at Celtic Park by beating Neil Lennon’s side 2-1 and pushing themselves firmly into the Scottish Premiership title race – and Shane Duffy has sent a message to a Rangers player.

Rangers dominated the match from start to finish – as they did in the League Cup final. The only difference this time, though, is that they managed to find the back of the net, rather than being stopped by an in-form Fraser Forster.

Ryan Kent gave Rangers the lead with a stunning first-time finish with his left foot, after being well found by Borna Barisic. Celtic equalised through Odsonne Edouard moments later, though somewhat fortuitously.

Callum McGregor’s shot hit Edouard and that wrong-footed Allan McGregor. It also hit Edouard’s hand, making the goal rather lucky. But it meant little, as Barisic laid on a perfect cross for Nikola Katic to score the winner. Goldson posted on Instagram.

Goldson, 27, starred alongside Katic at the heart of the Rangers defence as they were tasked with keeping Edouard quiet. Indeed, the Frenchman hardly got a sniff all match – with his goal coming through no endeavour of his own.

Centre-back Goldson joined Rangers in the summer of 2018 from Brighton where he played alongside Duffy. The Ireland cap has stated that he would consider a move to Celtic in the past, with the Scottish Sun quoting him as saying: “Maybe one day”.

Obviously more of a Celtic fan than a Rangers one, Duffy responded to Goldson’s upload by saying he “hates this post” but congratulated his former Seagulls teammate, describing him as a legend.
