Shane Duffy posts message after loan move to Celtic, Rangers defender Connor Goldson has responded
Shane Duffy posted a message on Instagram after completing his move on loan to Celtic from Brighton – and he received a humorous response from Rangers defender Connor Goldson.
The Bhoys completed the signing of centre-back Duffy on Wednesday morning on a season-long loan and he’s arrived to help strengthen the defence at Parkhead.
Premier League side Brighton have allowed the 28-year-old to depart on a temporary basis and he will now link up with Neil Lennon’s squad after the current international break, where he’s away with Republic of Ireland.
Duffy is a colossus defender known for his power, leadership and aerial ability, plus he’s got the Premier League know-how too which has made him a real consistent performer.
He should make a serious impact for the Scottish giants if he hits the ground running and is the type of player that loves to put his body on the line, something that the Celtic fans will love.
Duffy posted a message on his explaining it is a “dream” to play for boyhood club Celtic and there was also a cheeky response from Rangers’ centre-back Goldson.
Goldson, 27, is now a direct rival of Duffy due to the fierce Old Firm competition between Celtic and Rangers, but the pair were previously together at Brighton.
TBR’s View:
Goldson is at the heart of a Rangers defence that are yet to conceded a goal in their opening six league games of the season, as they sit top of the table and are hoping they can build on their strong start to launch a real title bid.
Meanwhile, Celtic are yet to hit anywhere near full gear in their pursuit of a 10th consecutive league title, but the transfer arrival of Duffy looks to be an excellent piece of business that will immediately make them stronger in both boxes.
He’s got all the experience and quality to make a real impact in Celtic, so Rangers fans may be concerned about this piece of business.
