Shaka Hislop has one big concern about Arsenal after tipping them to win the Premier League over Man City
Shaka Hislop feels Arsenal haven’t yet addressed their ‘biggest need’ as they aim to give Manchester City a run for the money in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners fell desperately short over the past two seasons but will look to learn from their near-misses to go all the way this time around.
Arsenal began the new season with a comfortable 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers courtesy of goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka either side of halftime.
Manchester City, on the other hand, dispatched Chelsea by the same scoreline away from home to begin their title defence on a positive note.
As we prepare for another Premier League title race for the ages, Shaka Hislop feels Arsenal will come up trumps this time around despite their failure to sign a striker.
Shaka Hislop laments Arsenal’s lack of an out-and-out striker

Hislop feels this is finally the year Man City hit a bit of a blip as they haven’t refreshed their squad in the transfer market.
“I have Arsenal winning this time around,” Hislop said on ESPN UK’s YouTube channel.
“Manchester City’s time is coming in the sense that some of their star players are ageing and there hasn’t been a whole lot of movement in the transfer window.”
Hislop pin-pointed Arsenal’s failure to sign an out-and-out striker as an issue, although he admitted that the Gunners will still come out on top as Man City aren’t stronger than what they were last season.
Hislop continued: “Arsenal have continued to improve but my one caveat is that I don’t feel they’ve addressed their biggest need – which is for an out-and-out striker.
“Due to this, I’m saying Arsenal to win it with some hesitation but it’s more due to Man City regressing.”
What have Arsenal and Man City done in the transfer market?
Arsenal are currently locked in talks to sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad and have already snapped up Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
There have been suggestions that the Gunners should be in the market for a striker, with Paul Merson claiming Arsenal would win the league if they sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
However, no such move has materialised, at least for the time being.
Man City, on the other hand, have also completed just one signing as Savinho joined the club at the start of the summer transfer window from Ligue 1 club Troyes.
Pep Guardiola’s side, though, are preparing for a reunion of sorts as Ilkay Gundogan is close to returning to the club on a free transfer from Barcelona.
With just over a week to go for the transfer window to slam shut, both Arsenal and Man City could spring a surprise or two as they aim to pip one another to the Premier League title.
