‘Shadow of the player’… BBC pundit left so unimpressed with £24m West Ham man against Sheff Utd today
Despite going ahead late on against Sheffield United today, David Moyes’ West Ham United side couldn’t quite grasp a win.
Although he fielded a makeshift side, Moyes would have expected his West Ham players to deliver three points especially when going ahead in the 79th minute.

Danny Ings delivered a promising performance full of endeavour, a player who is clearly willing to give it everything to turn his form around.
Moyes is currently without all of Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio in his front line.
And although Maxwell Cornet was also able to make a difference in his minutes, the same couldn’t be said of Pablo Fornals.
At least, that’s what Clinton Morrison thought.
The pundit was watching the game for and really wasn’t impressed with Fornals, claiming the midfielder was a shadow of his former self.
Fornals originally started the game on the left of West Ham’s front four against Sheffield United but did switch with Cornet shortly before the opening goal.
And although Fornals did little wrong, his performance lacked some flair from the past.
Clinton Morrison not impressed with West Ham’s Pablo Fornals against Sheffield United
Speaking bluntly, Morrison said: “Fornals is a shadow of the player he was a couple of years ago. He hasn’t had the game time.”
West Ham signed Fornals for back in 2019.

And whilst the forward has had some excellent moments in a West Ham shirt, he isn’t quite reaching the levels needed for the club’s lofty ambitions.
It’s understandable that there’s a big drop off from the likes of Kudus or Paqueta to Fornals, but the winger should be showing more.
The same could also be said for Cornet and Said Benrahma, despite the former finishing well today.
West Ham have a brilliant starting XI when everyone is fit, but a club fighting in Europe and in the league should have better strength in depth, something that was exposed against Sheffield United today.
That being said, West Ham are now chasing a player who’s been coveted by some of the biggest clubs in England.
