Serie A club now want to ‘convince’ Celtic to allow 23-year-old to leave this month in loan to buy move
With most of the transfer focus centred around Celtic needing to add fresh faces to the squad, it is easy to forget that there are a number of players that are also surplus to requirements.
Brendan Rodgers has already shipped out Hyeokyu Kwon and, it seems, one more player could be following the South Korean out the door.
Swedish defender, Gustaf Lagerbielke, has seen his big summer move to Glasgow turn sour over the past few months.
Signed for £3m, the Allsevenskan Defender of the Year has struggled to make an impact at Celtic Park. Not helped by getting sent off on his Champions League debut, Lagerbielke now looks certain to be the next player to make a Parkhead exit.
According to a report from Italian news outlet , Lecce are looking to persuade Celtic to part with Lagerbielke before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
The report says, “Loan with the right to buy: this is the formula devised by Lecce to convince Celtic to release Gustaf Lagerbielke, Swede, twenty-three years old, central defender, six appearances in the Premiership.
“An idea, a solution to complete D’Aversa’s team in this second half of the season.”

Lecce are currently sitting 14th in the Italian top flight. After losing to Genoa 2-1 yesterday, they find themselves just three points above the relegation zone as they head further into the business end of the season.
Clearly, they have earmarked Lagerbielke as a defender who can help them keep their place in the top division and with the Swede no longer fancied by Rodgers, a move to Italy could happen sooner rather than later for the international defender.
TBR Celtic will keep a close eye on this one as the days go by and hopefully Celtic will be able to recoup much of the £3m they spent on the 23-year-old in the summer.
