Report: ‘Superb’ Tottenham man has pulled up late in training and could now miss Newcastle clash

Just when Antonio Conte thought he’d got away with the international break and injuries, one of his players who didn’t even go away has now reportedly been injured.

According to , Spanish wing-back Sergio Reguilon has pulled up late in the day in training on Thursday and is now touch and go to face Newcastle.

If Reguilon is out, it’s a bitter blow for Antonio Conte, who was hoping to have a fully fit and firing squad to choose from against the Magpies. If the Spaniard is out, the claim that Matt Doherty will move across to the left-back slot with Emerson Royal coming in on the right.

as a ‘superb’ player before by Graham Roberts, Reguilon has actually been linked with a move away from Tottenham, despite being a regular. Reports a few weeks back suggested he’d been offered to Barcelona, although nothing more has come to light on that rumour just yet.

In the here and now, though, Conte will be disappointed to have lost one of his first-teamers. With a bit of luck, the injury will be minor and Reguilon might well make the game anyway.

TBR’s View: Reguilon Brings Balance For Tottenham

There is no doubt that having a natural left-footer down that side helps Spurs and Conte’s way of playing. So does the speed in which Reguilon gets up and down the pitch. Therefore, if he is missing, then it is a bitter blow. Make no bones about it.

Reguilon has done well since arriving at the club in fairness to him. Despite looking poor defensively at times, as an attacking outlet he is actually excellent. He gets into good positions, and his runs from deep allow Heung-Min Son to drift inside that bit more.
