Difficult’: 25-year-old Tottenham player admits he’s struggling to play for 90 minutes right now
Tottenham defender, Sergio Reguilon, has admitted that he is struggling to get back to his very fittest after dealing with a bout of Covid-19 earlier this season.
The Spaniard missed the 5-1 win over Newcastle this weekend with a knock picked up in training. In his place, Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal did well in the full-back positions, with Doherty in particular impressing. Of course, Reguilon will be hoping to be back into the action ASAP.

But speaking ahead of the game with Newcastle, the former Sevilla defender admitted that he is found things difficult.
“For me, it was difficult and still it is a little bit difficult because, after Covid, my feeling is that l didn’t recover 100 per cent. After COVID, when I came back, it was very tough for me. It is still a bit tough, but this is football, this is life, you have to be ready for everything,” Reguilon told Spurs’ matchday programme (via )
In fairness to Reguilon, he did play before this weekend, and completed 88 minutes in the game against West Ham. However, with Conte’s system so reliant on wing-backs getting up and down, Reguilon will hope to regain his full fitness ASAP.
TBR’s View: A Fit Reguilon Is Bonus For Tottenham
With Doherty doing so well on the right, if Spurs can get Reguilon at his very best again then they’ll have a real threat down both sides.
On his day, he’s one of the better left wing-backs in the league. Above all, he brings the energy and speed on the flank that Conte demands of his wide players. It is, then, concerning to hear that Covid has impacted ‘Regi’ so much.
Hopefully, he can get back to his brilliant best. Certainly, for Tottenham anyway, having Reguilon back fully firing would be a huge bonus in the run-in.
