Serge Aurier reacts to Arsenal links on Instagram in message to Tottenham fans
Serge Aurier has addressed the reports that he was open to joining Arsenal as he took to Instagram to send a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans.
What’s the story?
Aurier has a new club following his departure from Spurs on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The right-back has joined Villarreal on a free transfer. Of course, the move sees him join up with his former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery in La Liga.
But reports suggested shortly after his exit from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that he was prepared to work with another manager connected to Arsenal: Mikel Arteta.

, Aurier was open to the idea of joining the Gunners. In fact, it was claimed that he wanted to stay in England. And Arsenal were one of the clubs informed about that fact.
But it would appear that that was not actually the case. Aurier has now taken to Instagram following his move to the Yellow Submarine. And he has made it very clear what his stance was on the idea of moving to the Emirates.
Here is a translation of some of Aurier’s message to Spurs fans…
“I have never seen myself at another club in England if not at your place! And I didn’t see myself joining the enemy even less because I have too much respect for our club, for our history and for all our moments shared together.”
Arsenal signing Aurier was surely always a non-starter after Gunners signed Takehiro Tomiyasu
Like Spurs, Arsenal did sign a right-back on deadline day. Takehiro Tomiyasu joined the club from Bologna.
With that in mind, it seemed that the unlikeliest of moves quickly became even less likely to happen.
Arsenal have several right-back options. And given Aurier’s inconsistency during his time at Spurs, it would have surely never been worth the hassle for anyone to agree such a deal.
