Serge Aurier posts defiant message on Instagram amid reports of Tottenham bust-up

Serge Aurier has posted a defiant message on his Instagram story after reports claimed the right-back had a bust-up with Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho at half-time during the loss to Liverpool last month.

Aurier, 28, has been in and out of the Tottenham side this season – clocking up 16 appearances in all competitions. The Ivory Coast international is just one match shy of reaching a century since his move to Spurs in 2017.

But ESPN claimed, among many other outlets, that Aurier had a bust-up with Mourinho at half-time during the 3-1 home loss to Liverpool – and it saw the ex-PSG man leave the ground at half-time. Indeed, he was substituted.

The result of that saw Aurier left out of the entire matchday squad as Tottenham suffered a second successive loss – this time to Brighton. But the £70,000-a-week right-back has now posted a defiant message on Instagram.

TBR’s view – Aurier and Spurs must kiss and make up

Though Aurier has had his critics in the past, he has been excellent at times – certainly under the guidance of Mourinho. Matt Doherty has struggled since his move from Wolves, and Aurier is certainly the better option.

Spurs are better with Aurier at right-back and Aurier will be keen to continue playing, at least until the summer. The two parties need to forgive and forget, especially ahead of such an important match against Chelsea.
