‘See you soon’: Some Arsenal fans think ‘excellent’ full-back will ‘audition’ for them in summer

A number of Arsenal fans have reacted to news that Mikel Arteta’s charges will face Hibs – who have reported Gunners target Josh Doig on their books – in pre-season.

According to , the 18-year-old is on Arsenal’s radar as the north Londoners look to bolster their ranks at left-back.

Arsenal have already done business with Hibs this season, selling goalkeeper Matt Macey to them in January.

And on Tuesday, the Scottish club a pre-season friendly with the Gunners, set to take place at Easter Road on 13 July.

Could there be a link between Arsenal’s reported interest in Doig and the confirmation of a friendly between the two teams, perhaps as part of a deal?

A couple of fans seem to think so – here’s what they’ve said on Twitter:

Doig made his Hibs debut last August, helping his club to a 2-1 win, and manager Jack Ross was delighted with his player’s efforts.

“Josh is an 18-year-old making his full debut for the club, but he was excellent,” Ross told PA, via .

“He tired a bit, and was playing against a really good opponent in Chris Burke, so that will be another good education for him. But he can be very pleased with himself.

“It’s emotionally draining making your debut, whether fans are there or not, and he looked like he had played a number of games already.”
