Seattle Sounders 2 Real Salt Lake 0 – 13 September
Two first half goals were enough to extended the hosts winning streak to five games as they avenged the two earlier losses this campaign against Real Salt ✱Lake and jumped their opponents to take top spot in the Western Conference.
Obafemi Martins gave then the perfect start when he netted the fඣranchises second fastest ever goal with only 3 minutes of play showing on the clock.
Having picked the ball up thirty yards out Martins played a ball out wide to Andy Rose who was sprinting down the left wing as the ball got to the bye-line he swung in a cross which the Nigerian forward got on th🐓e end of and hammered the ball passed Nick Rimando into the net from ten yards out for his team leading eighth goal of thꦕe season.
The hosts continued to press forward and forced Rimando into t꧒wo more saves in the opening 10 minute🌠s as they went for the jugular.
The presure finally told 7 minutes from the break as Lamar Neagle scored for the third game running to double the Sounders advantage and draw level with Mart👍ins on eight tally’s for the campaign.
Again Ma𝄹rtins played an integral part as he started the move by sending a ball out this time to the right wing were DeAndre Yedlin was on hand to receive it and after cutting inside and racing into the penalty area he played ༺the perfect pass to Neagle who again gave Rimando no chance as he volleyed home from ten yards.
Only the play of the visitors goal-keeper and some last ditched de🎐fending by the overworked RSL back-line meant the home side did not inflict a heaver defeat on the away team 🍒as they saw their winning streak of two games and their unbeaten run of three games come to a grinding holt.
