Santo shouldn’t gamble on a striker in January despite Jimenez’s goal return
Raul Jimenez has netted just the three goals for Wolves since his summer arrival and there may be some who feel that a lone striker in a team that has had such an impressive start to the season should have more.
He has missed chances as well; so with the budget and connections on offer to Nuno Santo, he may be tempted to spend big on an upgrade in the January window.
Old Gold legend Don Goodman has it would cost up to £70m to get a better striker than Jimenez; who does all the same work as the Mexican off the ball but also sticks it away with more regularity.
The other side of the game is what Jimenez really offers Wolves; he has five assists this season and has been a willing runner, which has helped the side take to life in the Premier League well.

Leo Bonatini offers competition for Jimenez but if Santo does want to dip into the January market to improve his forward options, it would be shrewder to recruit a backup option rather than an expensive gamble.
If Wolves establish themselves this season then next term might be the time to go big for an elite striker, but even then it’s a risk.
A big name would get pulses racing but bigger clubs than Wolves have overpaid for dud strikers in the past.
