Sandro Tonali names the two Newcastle United teammates who he already considers ‘top’ players
Newcastle United have spent a prolonged period of time without their star man Sandro Tonali, but that’s all about to change.
Eddie Howe‘s heart must have sank when he received the news that Sandro Tonali was set to miss 10 months of competitive football action after breaching gambling rules.
Newcastle ended up finishing 11 points worse off than the season before and missed out on a place in Europe, which will have come as a big blow to fans and people at the club after getting a taste of Champions League football.
And, though the Magpies are unbeaten so far in the current Premier League campaign with four points from two games, things just haven’t been great.
This led to Craig Hope has called urgently for a winger to be signed at Newcastle before the close of the window after witnessing the Bournemouth display.
However, signings are the last thing on Tonali’s mind as he’s been speaking about a couple of players already at the club…

Sandro Tonali impressed with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton
When speaking in an interview on , the Italian was quick to praise Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, as he revealed just how much they’d helped him over the past 10 months.
“I was in Wolverhampton with the team and maybe the first people Bruno and Joelinton helped me all night before the game. I think this is difficult for the players to stay with me and for this problem.
“I think for me if I have the game the day after I pause I rest and go to sleep. But Bruno and Jo is top player and top people. And for me I like the Brazilian guy. Not only because they help me but they help the team”.
As you can see, Sandro’s English isn’t perfect but we’ll let him off.
It appears as if Tonali has worked his way into a potential love triangle at Newcastle as Joelinton has been full of praise for teammate Bruno Guimaraes in the past.
When will Tonali make his Newcastle return?
Well, Newcastle fans won’t have to wait long to see the midfielder back in action as Tonali has been picked in the squad to face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening.
His return will come as a big boost for the club and Eddie Howe as he’s now got five high quality central midfield options at his disposal, which allows him to rotate.
The Italian only played the 12 times for the Magpies last season before being suspended so he’s still got a lot to prove, though the early signs were certainly promising.
And, he may even have a new centre-back to protect soon as Fabrizio Romano has revealed Newcastle are so close to landing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
