Sandro Raniere say ‘it’s crazy’ how good 21-year-old Tottenham youngster is already

Sandro Raniere has heaped praise on Pape Matar Sarr and admitted he loves watching the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

Former Spurs man Sandro was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today as ’s side took part in an open training session.

Pape Matar Sarr was involved along with the majority of Spurs’ first-team regulars.

The 21-year-old has recently returned from AFCON 2024 and got on the scoresheet in the win over Brighton last weekend.

And Sandro was asked for his opinion on Tottenham’s up-and-coming star during today’s open session.

Sandro says Sarr is so good ‘it’s crazy’

Speaking in a video on Tottenham’s official channel, Sandro was asked what he’s made of Sarr’s season so far.

“Pape Sarr, I love watching him. He gives everything, he’s a midfielder I love to watch. In the end, he’s still giving 100 per cent. He’s always ready to attack the box,” the former Spurs midfielder said.

Sandro was then asked if Sarr reminded him of another former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

“Exactly. But I think Jenas on defending, he was more attacking. Sarr can attack and defend on the same level. It’s crazy,” Sandro responded.

Sarr has made quite the impression at Tottenham since Postecoglou’s arrival over the summer.

Not many would have expected the Senegalese midfielder to become a mainstay in the Aussie’s midfield so quickly. But he’s established himself as a key player in Postecoglou’s side already. 

At 21, you’d imagine that Sarr will only continue to improve as he gains more experience in the Premier League.

Spurs missed his energy in midfield while he was at AFCON 2024 and his return has come at just the right time for Postecoglou.

With Yves Bissouma also back from international duty, Spurs suddenly have a wealth of options in the middle of the park.
