Sanchez backs Luis Sinisterra to shine at Leeds as £21.5m move nears

Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez that Luis Sinisterra has the ability to shine in the Premier League as his international teammate closes in on his move to Leeds United.

Sinisterra looks set to become the Whites’ sixth addition of the summer. The Feyenoord star appears to be the man tasked with potentially filling the void Raphinha may leave in the coming weeks.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that an announcement on Sinisterra’s move to Elland Road is imminent.

The 23-year-old has been outstanding over the last 12 months. He scored 23 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions last season.

However, there is likely to be some intrigue surrounding how well he adapts to the Premier League. Many players have struggled with the step-up from the Eredivisie.

Sanchez knows Sinisterra from playing together for Colombia. And the centre-back – who joined Spurs from a Dutch club in Ajax – insisted that the winger has the tools to thrive.

“Leeds are competitive; it’s a team that everyone knows because of what Bielsa did for a long time,”

“Lucho has been doing very well, he played in the final of a European tournament, and he has earned his place in Holland.

“He has conditions and qualities. He has already shown that in the national team.

“If he has the chance to come, he will compete, and I think what he has in his favour is that this is a league of duels, and he is very strong in duels, and he will be able to make a difference like Lucho Diaz. If he comes, the best of luck.”

Sinisterra is perhaps the most exciting signing Leeds will make this summer. Certainly, he has evoked memories for some of how they felt when they first learned that the Whites wanted Raphinha.

The Brazilian ultimately had absolutely no problem stepping up from Ligue 1. So the hope will be that the current target can adapt just as quickly.

Certainly, if he does manage it, Leeds could have another transfer masterstroke to celebrate in the coming years.
