Samir Nasri explains what Patrice Evra said about West Ham training

that Patrice Evra told him that Hammers training was better than Dimitri Payet’s Marseille.

Nasri, 31, has played four times for the Hammers since joining the club at the end of December. He has shown in glimpses the kind of quality that made him one of the best playmakers in Europe during his time at Arsenal.

The former France international requested the advice of Evra upon signing for West Ham, after the latter played for the east Londoners during last season. His contract expired at the end of the season.

Nasri spoke of the quality of training with his new club, and stated that he had spoken to Evra. The latter claimed it was better than that of Marseille, where hated-by-fans playmaker Payet is currently captain.

“I am not surprised we are playing like this,” “Even before Manu came back, when I first trained with the team, I said to Patrice Evra that I was surprised by the level of the training.

“I knew some of the players, but I didn’t expect the quality to be that high. Patrice agreed and said the training at West Ham was more difficult than at Marseille, who reached the final of the Europa League when he was there.

“That’s the conclusion that he made and that’s what I realised too. The level was and is really impressive.”

TBR’s view

Marseille boast an array of impressive talent due to their wealthy owner. The likes of Mario Balotelli, Florian Thauvin and Kevin Strootman are all playing for the Ligue 1 side.

However, the Hammers also have a high-earning squad filled with talent. It is a big compliment from Payet to say that West Ham training is harder than Marseille.

It is also a bit of a kick in the teeth for Payet, who remains a hate figure for the Hammers fans.
