Sam Allardyce delivers honest verdict as Everton confirm Rafa Benitez arrival
Rafa Benit𝔍ez has been appointed as Everton manager on a three-year deal. It is a move that has split Everton fans, with many angry that an ex-Liverpool gaffer has got the job✤. Others are more pragmatic. Sam Allardyce has told (Thursday, 7.35AM) the decision is “very brave”.
Ex-Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Napoli and Newcastle manager Benitez spent six years at Liverpool. The experienced Spaniard was in charge for a whopping 350 games at Liverpool, guiding them t🍸o a historic Champions League final win over Milan. He is a legend at Anfield.
But after a spell in the Chinese Super League with Beijing Guaon, Benite🍨z returns to Enꦆglish football for this fourth spell. This time, with Everton, agreeing a deal until 2024. Sam Allardyce – who of course managed Everton recently – commented on the decision made by Farhad Moshiri.
“B♚rave. Very, very brave,” Allardyce said. “The split is obvious. It is a simple question of one thing and one thing only, will Rafa bring success to Everton? They need to win football matches quickly and get themselves up the table, then it will be okay.
“But if it doesn’t then he will be hugely criticised. If he gets results, that will ease the problem that disagree with this appointment. It is brave from Farhad Moshiri. Stability is what is needed,”ꦐ the one-time England gaffer continued when discussing the controversial appointment of Allardyce.
Where does Benitez need to improve Everton – amid Allardyce comments?
Allardyce is bang on in saying that Benitez has got to get things going in the right direction quickly – or it will be impossible to win the fans over. If Everton start slow, Benitez will fail to recover. So, Everton need to start well and then ne🔴ed a couple of additions in order to do tha☂t.
Everton need a right-back. Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey are centre-backs, Seamus Coleman is getting on. They need wingers, perhaps two of them and they need cover for Dom Calvert-Lewin. Benitez also needs to make a decision on the future of Jam🔯es Rodriguez.
