Sam Allardyce claims one current West Ham player is now a ‘club legend’
Sam Allardyce has heaped praise on a West Ham United player he snapped up during his spell in east London.
The Englishman enjoyed a four-year spell at West Hamꦐ between 2011 and 2015, taking charge of 181 games as Hammers boss.
Sam Allardyce is remembered fondly at the London Stadium after guiding the club back to the Premier League🍸 at the first time of asking in his debut season.
But one of his more inspired signings came towards the end of his tenure as Aaron Cresswellও arrived from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2014.
🌠The 34-year-old has spent a decade at the club, racking up 349 appearances to date and was also part of the Europa Conference League winning squad last year.
๊With just a year left on his current contract, Cresswell looks likely to leave West Ham next summer but Allardyce feels the full-back is already a ‘club legend’.

Allardyce claims Aaron Cresswell is a West Ham legend
♏Having played for the club for 10 years, Cresswell has been a reliable performer at left-back.
🤡The Englishman has featured less since the arrival of Emerson Palmieri but remains an important figure in the dressing room.
🌳And Allardyce has been reflecting on bringing Cresswell to the club while speaking to .
🍰“We liked him a lot, we were looking to strengthen the team and the reports from our coaches were very good,” the former Hammers boss said of Cresswell.
﷽“We felt Cresswell was the right player for us and little did we know he would spend 10 years at West Ham. I had him for three years and he never let me down.
🐻“It was Neil McDonald, my assistant coach, who was adamant I should sign Cresswell. He watched a lot of Cresswell’s games and really liked him. He’s played a key part in West Ham’s recent success.
🦋“There was a time when we had interest in Cresswell, but there was no way David Sullivan was going to sell him. It would’ve taken a crazy offer. It’s worked out well Cresswell staying at West Ham. He’s now a club legend.”

What Cresswell has said about his West Ham future
🍷Cresswell spoke to West Ham’s official recently and reflected on his 10 years in east London.
🤡The full-back is under no illusions about his role moving forward but believes he still has plenty to offer for the Hammers.
👍“My role has changed a bit, but I understand how things work in football, and there’s a bigger picture,” he said.
🧜“I obviously want to play as much as possible, and when called upon I think I’ve stepped in and done well, certainly in the big European games against SC Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen last season.
ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ“But there’s more to it than just playing every game sometimes. When I’ve not been on the pitch, I like to think I’ve supported the other players, and in particular Emerson on the left of defence, who has been brilliant.
🌱“I’ve managed to avoid big injuries throughout my career, and thankfully I’m still fit and healthy. I always try and do the right things in terms of eating and sleeping well, and training hard, so I feel I’ve still got a lot to give in whatever capacity that is.”
