Sam Allardyce admits one Arsenal player has really ‘surprised’ him at Euro 2024

Arsenal have three players hoping to be involved in tonight’s Euro 2024 final.

David Raya has featured just once at the tournament for Spain and seems unlikely to start over first-choice goalkeeper Unai Simon. But Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice look set to start from the off once again as Englan♈d bid to end their 58-year wait for a major tournament win.

The Arsenal duo have proven key to England’s success at Euro 2024, having started in ev♊ery game at the tourname༺nt so far.

Saka in particular has enjoyed quite an eventful few weeks in Germany, with the Hale E෴nd Academy product being used as a wing-back by Gareth Southꦡgate.

It became apparent that the Three Lions’ syst🌟em just wasn’t working after scraping past Slovakia in the last 16, which has led to Southgate switching to a back three and deploying Saka at right wi🍸ng-back.

Of course, it’s a position that Saka is familiar with after being used in a similar role during the early stages of h🅘is Arsenal career.

Nevertheless, the 22-year-old’s form over the past couple of games has surprised former Premier League boss Sam Allardyce.

What Southgate said about Saka after semi-final victory

England’s players are just one game away from achieving immortality and Saka has typified their ꦦresilience through❀out the tournament.

Despite being among the world’s best as a right wiജnger, Saka hasn’t 🙈complained about dropping slightly deeper and has instead stepped up to provide when his team has needed him most.

Southgate is certainly of that opinion and didn’t hesitate to single out the Arsenal star for praise after a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Ne🌊therlands in the semi-final.

“In the end the players made so man⭕y good decisions on the field – people like Bukayo Saka,” the Three Lions boss said.

“The defensive res💞ponsibility he had, he started defending as a wing-back and he then had to go into midfield to defend, he had to defend as winger – there were so many things going on like that all night. I was really pleased with the quality of our play.”
