Salzburg chief Christoph Freund comments on Liverpool-linked Takumi Minamino
Liverpool are being linked with a move for RB Salzburg winger Takumi Minamino.
The Japan international has enjoyed a fine season with the Austrian outfit so far, the Reds are now ready to ‘accelerate their interest’ in the 24-year-old.
The star supposedly has a release clause of just £7.25 million, making him a potential bargain next month.
It is an exciting link for Reds fans before the window has even opened, but there could be a real possibility of the deal coming to fruition judging by what Salzburg’s sporting director has said.
Christoph Freund has effectively green-lighted the move, : “I can confirm that there are currently discussions with Liverpool. It is an honor which clubs are interested in our players.
“He is an outstanding player with an outstanding personality. The big clubs have been watching him and if I was them, I’d have no hesitation to sign him. Takumi is ready to make the next step in January.”

Freund sounds remarkably open to the idea of Minamino leaving Salzburg for Anfield.
It rather seems a case of when not if the deal is completed.
Liverpool may be way ahead of the chasing pack in the Premier League, but it will be a positive for them to get someone like Minamino in to shake things up.
The energetic ace can play in a variety of positions in attacking midfield and seems a typical Jurgen Klopp-type player in that, not only does he have quality on the ball, but he is also relentless off it.
