Saint-Maximin praises Newcastle’s capture of Callum Wilson, after signing new deal

Newcastle United winger has been speaking after penning a new long-term contract with the club.

The maverick Frenchman delighted supporters yesterday by agreeing terms on a new six-year deal at St. James’ Park, which comes after a lively debut campaign in 2019/20.

The £16.5 million signing from Nice () has become a huge hit with the Newcastle faithful for his flamboyance and invention on the pitch, as well as his personality off it.

Seemingly Saint-Maximin is equally taken with life at Newcastle.

It also appears the club’s activity in the transfer market has impressed the 23-year-old, who pointed to one deal in particular.

(): “I hope the club continues to buy better players so we can improve.

“To buy Callum Wilson was a very good signing.

“He has scored four goals in four games and this can make a big difference.

“The club has to keep going with this and me, I have to keep playing well, to give my best and if we do this I think Newcastle can be in the top 10 and maybe even more.”

It is clear to see how much Newcastle value Saint-Maximin, who is undoubtedly one of the most exciting additions at the club in years.

The way the player has spoken following his new deal shows how much the club appreciate him.

The player had been linked with a move away from St. James’ during the international transfer window, but it seems the signing of Wilson may have been key – even if subconsciously – for the player to commit is long-term future.
