“Sad”, “”Gutted”, “Sell” – These West Ham fans react to Javier Hernandez exit links

According to the , Javier Hernandez has handed in a transfer request at West Ham United in an attempt to secure a switch to Sevilla.

Hernandez has been pushed down the pecking order at the London Stadium by the summer arrival of Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt. The arrival of 22-year-old forward Albian Ajeti has also seen the Mexican’s position in the Hammers’ squad come under threat. Hernandez will be aware that he’s unlikely to get regular Premier League starts if he remains with the east London club.

The 108-cap Mexico international has been a fine servant for West Ham. Since joining the Irons in the summer of 2017, he has made 63 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals. The 31-year-old may be in the twilight of his career, but he remains a capable goalscorer and his experience could make him a useful player to have in the squad. If Hernandez is allowed to leave West Ham this summer, then Manuel Pellegrini could come to regret that decision before the end of the campaign.

However, it is easy to understand why Hernandez seems keen to leave as he is far from guaranteed regular game time.

Plenty of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to share their views on the striker’s potential departure.
