Ryan Sessegnon shares what Ivan Perisic told him just before Tottenham Hotspur started their warm-up on Saturday
Tottenham Hotspur full-back Ryan Sessegnon put in a brilliant display on Saturday against Southampton as Antonio Conte’s men got off to the perfect start.

Conte brought in Perisic on a free transfer from Inter Milan at the beginning of the summer as direct competition for Sessegnon’s position but it seems the Croatian is more than happy to help the 22-year-old improve.
Sessegnon scored a thumping header after a superb delivery from Dejan Kulusevski and looked a real threat on the left-hand side.

The former Fulham man arrived at the back post and beat Kyle Walker-Peters to the header to draw Spurs level after they went 1-0 down early on.

“He’s a great player who has won a lot of titles,” he said.
‘He’s also a great person who helped me a lot already. Even the goal, he told me to get in at the back post and score.
“Before the warm-up, he came to me and said Kyle Walker-Peters is quite small so if the ball goes into the back post make sure you are there to head it. I took in on board.”

What Perisic told Sessegnon
Sessegnon was brilliant against Southampton Saturday and was a big reason that Spurs went on to win the game 4-1.
The youngster put down a real claim for the wing-back position and despite being subbed off for Perisic later on in the game, he’s probably earned himself a starting place for next week’s game against Chelsea.
played like a Conte wing-back and it’s great to see that he is learning from a veteran like Perisic.
Conte now has two brilliant options for the left wing-back role and it will be an intriguing battle between the pair to nail down a place in the Italian’s team this season.
