, the initial fee is “low” but future add-ons could see it reach £10m.

Tottenham signed Clarke in July 2019 after he dazzled for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

He rejoined the Whites on loan but Spurs recalled him in January due to a lack of playing time.

Clarke finished the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

The following season, Jose Mourinho gave the 21-year-old his Spurs debut in the Europa League.

However, Clarke ended up going out on loan again, this time at Stoke City.

His loan spell started off full of promise but injury, unfortunately, curtailed his time in Staffordshire.

And last season, Clarke started the campaign at Spurs before joining the Black Cats on loan.

He played his part in Sunderland winning promotion via the League One playoffs.

Clarke had one year left on his Spurs contract, so a decision had to be made over his future.

He will be hoping his switch to Wearside helps get his career back on track after three tough years with Spurs.

Clarke – who made for Spurs – took to Instagram in wake of his move with the caption “the journey continues”.

And several Spurs players, such as Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Alfie Devine and Kion Etete, all wished him well.
