Ryan Mason says Tottenham player he’s overlooked has “trained well”
Tottenham’s interim boss Ryan Mason has admitted that Joe Rodon has caught the eye in a positive way in training, albeit he’s yet to use him since he took temporary change as manager.
Mason replaced Jose Mourinho in charge until the end of the season, and his job is to try nail down a European qualification position in the Premier League.
He’s taken charge of four games so far, including the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City, and has two wins and two defeats so far.
Rodon, 23, has surprisingly not played a single minute.
The Welsh centre-back was cup-tied against Man City, but he’s not been selected for the match day squad in the three most recent Premier League matches.
Despite not using him, Mason has praised Rodon in his Friday press conference ahead of the weekend fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“The most important thing for me is he’s remained professional, he’s worked hard, he’s trained well and he’s been good around the club so that’s a massive tick from me,” Mason said, as quoted by.

TBR’s View:
Mason has tried to find some consistency with a centre-back partnership of Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld, with defenders Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez providing cover on the bench.
Rodon has perhaps not had as many opportunities overall this season as he deserves, so it may be refreshing for him to start again next season under a new manager.
Spurs fans are patiently waiting still to find out who the full-time successor to Mourinho will be, but whoever it is should look at Rodon as an exciting young centre-half that has plenty of potential to grow into a top defender under the right tutelage.
