Ryan Mason says Tottenham have a ‘world class’ player in their ranks

of Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-0 win over Sheffield United that Gareth Bale is a “world class” player, as the Welshman netted a hat-trick during Sunday evening’s win over the Blades.

With protests preventing Manchester United from taking on Liverpool, Spurs had the chance to climb to fifth if interim manager Mason could make it two wins from two Premier League games – and he did just that in London.

Bale, 31, scored a sensational hat-trick. His first, a neat dink over Aaron Ramsdale before an explosive finish for his second and then a third as Serge Aurier got his second assist of the match. Son curled in a brilliant fourth.

Mason watched on as Bale took his tally to 14 goals in 30 outings, and four goals in his last two Premier League matches. The caretaker boss raved about Bale, labelling the loanee world class – and that his finishing is outstanding.

“When you score a hat-trick and in crucial moments you’ll get the headlines. He’s world class, we know that. Everyone who has watched football over the past 10 years knows what he can do,” Mason said.

“His finishing was outstanding. That’s a conversation for the end of the season [on if he’ll stay]. The priority and main aim now is Leeds,” the Spurs boss continued,

TBR’s view – Can Spurs re-sign Bale this summer?

What are the chances Spurs have of re-signing Bale? Well, he is clearly happier in a side with Mason at the helm – a more-attacking manager who gives the likes of Bale more freedom. Four goals in two league games says it all.

So, if Mason does not get the job, Spurs need to hire a manager that can make them more attacking. Secondly, Daniel Levy needs to back the new manager – and re-signing Bale will certainly cost a pretty penny.

If a second loan is on offer, Spurs need to take it.
