Ryan Mason says Spurs have a top player in their ranks who’s ‘always wanting to learn’

Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason has waxed lyrical about Harry Kane, saying the Spurs striker is already “one of the best in the world” but is always wanting to learn and improve.

The Tottenham talisman has enjoyed another outstanding campaign, registering 31 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, with 21 goals and 13 assists coming in the Premier League.

While Spurs haven’t had the best season, their league form has improved since Mason replaced Jose Mourinho at the helm, with two league wins out of two.

Tottenham are now back in the hunt for European qualification, with just two points between them and fifth-placed West Ham, while fourth-placed Chelsea are six points ahead of Spurs.

Kane is likely to have a big say in the last few games of the season and Mason couldn’t sing his former teammate’s praises highly enough ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leeds United.

“I love Harry and everyone loves Harry here and he’s one of the most professional guys I’ve ever come across,” the 29-year-old is quoted by as saying.

“As a player, he was amazing to be around. Yes, he’s one of my best mates but at the moment, seeing him work it’s no different to what I’ve seen over the past 15 years.

“He gives 100 percent commitment in every moment. He wants to learn, he wants to improve and I think that’s why you’ve seen him remain so consistent over the past five or six years in his goalscoring and performances.

“Yes, he’s one of the best but he’s always wanting to learn and improve his game. He works at his game and there’s no doubt Harry is one of the best in the world.”
