Ryan Mason says ‘incredible’ Spurs man Oliver Skipp is ready for first-team
Interim Spurs manager, Ryan Mason, believes that young midfielder Oliver Skipp is ready to seize his chance in the Premier League next season.
Skipp is set to return to north London this summer following a stunning season down in the Championship with Norwich City. Skipp played 45 times for the Canaries as they cruised to promotion under Daniel Farke.
Norwich are keen to keep hold of Skipp and Stuart Webber has already revealed talks have taken place. But speaking ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, Mason says he thinks Skipp is ready to play for Spurs, albeit depending on what the new manager wants.
“My opinion may be different to many but I think Oliver Skipp is an incredible talent and one of the most professional guys I have come across in the academy,” Mason told
“He has had a fantastic season so I’m sure those conversations will be had over the summer. I think Skippy is ready personally, but with these decisions it depends who the manager is and where the club want to go with him.”
Skipp, 20, will be keen to make his mark with the club. He impressed Jose Mourinho previously and is regarded as a player Spurs think they can bank on for the coming years ahead. With the futures of the likes of Harry Winks still unclear, Skipp may well seize his chance.

Anyone who has watched Norwich this season will stand by that stance, too. Skipp has been exceptional and it’s no surprise to see talk of him being a regular with Spurs next year.
Mason knows him well and if he’s still around even if he’s not the manager, then he’ll be in the new man’s ear about just how good Skipp is.
