Ryan Mason hails Tottenham star who ‘ran a lot’ in previous game

Tottenham’s interim boss Ryan Mason has given a glowing verdict on the performance of Dele Alli in the last game.

Spurs, who are still an outside bet to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, annihilated already relegated Sheffield United 4-0 last Sunday.

Gareth Bale was the standout individual, and he’ll take the most confidence going into the trip to Leeds United this weekend for the next league encounter.

However, attacking midfielder Alli is another who should be especially delighted after comments from the manager about him in Friday’s press conference.

The £100,000-a-week () playmaker impressed Mason after starting against Sheffield United, and he pointed out how much energy he gave his team with non-stop running.

“I think it was clear to see that he was 100 per cent committed [against Sheffield United[. He helped us regain a lot of second balls, he ran a lot and opened a lot of space for the other attacking players,” Mason told .

“Most importantly he had a lot of energy and he felt good, which was pleasing. Like I said all along, there are so many players competing for these positions.”

If you’ve got a confident Dele Alli on the pitch, then you are watching a supremely talented individual.

It’s been well documented his struggles on the pitch, especially under ex-boss Jose Mourinho, and he looks a long way off the youngster that was once dynamite in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old is not involved in the current England international scene, but he’s earned 37 senior caps for his country and has time on his side to break back into the fold if he can recapture his best form.
