Ryan Fredericks praises West Ham teammate Aaron Cresswell for ‘lovely’ free-kick
West Ham United full-back Ryan Fredericks has praised his teammate Aaron Cresswell who produced a real moment of quality with his free-kick against Everton.
With Vladimir Coufal on the bench, Hammers boss David Moyes handed Fredericks just his second Premier League start of the season.
The former Fulham man completed the full 90 minutes in the Premier League for the first time this season in yesterday’s 2-1 win against the Toffees.
But it was Fredericks’ fellow full-back who grabbed the headlines with a stunning free-kick to open the scoring at the London Stadium.
In the 32nd minute, West Ham’s number three whipped a delicious free-kick over the Everton wall and passed a helpless Jordan Pickford into the top corner.
Speaking after the victory against Frank Lampard’s side, Fredericks was asked to give his thoughts on Cresswell’s moment of brilliance.
Speaking via the , the 29-year-old said: “I hate giving Cress credit, but on this occasion I have to say it was lovely! He has got that all day. He practices it in training all the time and they’re always flying in.
“We’ve got loads of good free-kick takers here, but Cress is probably the best and he’s done it a few times now. He was close with the second one as well.
“Everyone knows how good his left foot is – he needed it and it came in at the right time.”
It was Aaron Cresswell’s, 32, second Premier League goal of the season and his first since the 4-2 win against Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the season.
The three points against the struggling Goodison Park side moved the Hammers up above Manchester United into sixth place in the Premier League table.
