Ryan Edmondson should consider exiting Leeds on loan

Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson is a highly-rated talent that is well though of at Elland Road and has immense potential.

The 18-year-old has had a taste of senior action with the Whites and made two first-team appearances, but is yet to be given an opportunity so far this season.

He’s yet to be involved in a match day squad this campaign, but has previously featured in two Championship fixtures in the past.

Edmondson has a sizeable task to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s team, as their is immense competition in the forward areas.

Patrick Bamford has been the first-choice striker at the beginning of the campaign and he has Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah breathing down his neck.

It looks like the pair will continue battling it out all season and it would take an injury to bring anyone else into the fold.

Edmondson is coming to the age where he could do with some first-team minutes and looks ready to make the step up from youth level.

He made his England’s Under-19s side on Thursday and got himself on the scoresheet during a 4-1 win over Greece.

The physical striker looks like he’s a natural finisher and he can lead the line effectively by himself.

If his minutes don’t improve by the time the January window comes around, he should seriously think about requesting a loan as a spell in perhaps League One would help his development immensely.
