Ryan Edmondson could be secret Leeds weapon against Bristol City

Leeds United begin their Championship season away to Bristol City and it could be a difficult trip to Ashton Gate.

Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit are expected to be one of the teams challenging at the top end of the table and would love to put out an early statement.

They have had some mixed performances in pre-season and one intriguing department is at striker.

Patrick Bamford hasn’t looked anywhere near his sharpest, albeit in a pre-season environment, while Kemar Roofe suffered an injury recently.

Roofe was pictured wearing a protective boot after the game against Western Sydney Wanderers, but it’s unclear on how severe the problem is.

With the curtain-raiser against Bristol City drawing closer, it certainly looks like Bielsa still has some thinking to do regarding his forward line.

Academy graduate Ryan Edmondson is someone that has looked in good touch in pre-season and could end up being a secret weapon agianst Bristol City.

The 18-year-old recently scored a hat-trick against Tadcaster in a pre-season match and he’s become highly-rated at Elland Road.

He’s a centre-forward with a physical frame and has shown he’s clinical in front of goal, while Bielsa gave him his senior debut last season.

Edmondson should certainly be pushing for a spot in the squad against Bristol City, especially if Roofe’s injury problem turns out to be a serious one.

He could be a great weapon off the bench with his physicality and be a great surprise to spring on the opposition.
