Ryan Babel has heaped praise on midfielder Gini Wijnaldum , describing the midfielder as an “incredible person” – despite the Dutch ace being linked with a move this summer.
Wijnaldum, 29, remains a crucial part of the Liverpool side this season – having played 38 matches in all competitions. The former Newcastle star has even scored five goals, including strikes against Atletico Madrid and Everton.
However, the Netherlands international is due to enter the final 12 months of his contract and that has increased doubts over his future – especially given he turns 30 in November. that Inter Milan are keen.
Former Liverpool star – and Wijnaldum’s international teammate – Babel spoke highly of the Reds midfielder, claiming he is the “complete” player and that he is not shy if an opinion needs to be given.
“I have no words for Gini’s performances and quality,” “He’s an incredible person. His energy is incredible, he has lungs for days. You can tell when he has the confidence, he’s really unbeatable and very hard to play against.
“He’s very complete – he can score goals, he can tackle, can defend, recover balls. Gini’s development is also incredible. Gini is definitely a person who is not shy to give his opinion. He has very strong opinions and is very much loved in the team process.”
TBR’s view – Should Liverpool keep Wijnaldum?
Yes. Without a doubt, Wijnaldum remains one of Liverpool’s most important players. With Naby Keita struggling to show his best form and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain somewhat inconsistent since his return from injury, Wijnaldum is pivotal.
That means Liverpool need to offer Wijnaldum a new contract. Failing to do that, and Liverpool would have to sell the former PSV Eindhoven ace this summer if they are to bring in some cash for his signature. A new deal, is needed.
