Rumoured bid for Domagoj Vida would be bizarre from Everton

Everton have been linked with a move for Domagoj Vida in recent days. The Croatian has been performing well at the World Cup this summer and Everton need a new central defender this summer.

Reports in Turkey today have even suggested a deal is on the cards. the Toffees have reportedly lodged a swap deal bid.

The report suggests Everton have offered €10 million (£8.8 million) plus Davy Klaassen, who cost Everton

That makes the entire deal worth £32.4 million for the Besiktas man.

Which would be a mad move from the club.

Vida is a brilliant central defender and Besiktas would be remiss to lose him. They only snapped him up from Dynamo Kiev as recently as January themselves.

But he is 29-years-old. Klaassen has struggled during his first season at Everton but he is still young and, his Ajax form still means he must have a high market value if Everton want to sell him on.

Throwing him into the deal to sign an older player, whose value will depreciate sharply, would make little to no sense from the Everton hierarchy.

It would not be likely and the new regime, spearheaded by director of football Marcel Brands, is surely not about to put this deal together.
