Ruben Amorim thinks there’s another striker who’d be even better than Benjamin Sesko for Man United
Manchester United are accelerating their plans to sign a new striker this summer.
The Red Devils have already brought in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who can both play as centre-forwards if required.
However, Ruben Amorim sees them more as number 10s, and he has been pushing the decision-makers at Manchester United to sign a striker soon.
Benjamin Sesko seems like United’s top target right now, but Amorim preferred someone else.
Ruben Amorim thinks Ollie Watkins would be better than Benjamin Sesko for Manchester United
Sesko is the priority for Manchester United right now.
The Red Devils are in direct talks with RB Leipzig to sign the talented Slovenian striker, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long time.
Newcastle United also want to sign Sesko this summer, but as things stand, it is Amorim’s side who are ahead in the race for his signature.
However, have revealed that the Manchester United boss initially deemed Ollie Watkins to be a ‘better solution’ for his issues in attack than Sesko.
It has been claimed that there was a belief behind the scenes at Old Trafford that the Aston Villa man would be a better fit because of his playing style and his experience in the Premier League.
That is why many in the game felt that Manchester United would table a bid to sign Watkins, but they seem to have focused their attention towards Sesko instead.
TBR revealed on Wednesday that Manchester United and Newcastle are awaiting Sesko’s response after both clubs presented their project to him.
It remains to be seen now if they will go for Watkins if Sesko chooses the Magpies.

Why Manchester United are pushing for Benjamin Sesko instead of Ollie Watkins
Watkins and Sesko are both very different players.
The Aston Villa star’s biggest strengths are his ability to run in behind and also drift out wide to make space for the players around him.
Sesko, on the other hand, is a powerful player who is far better at holding the ball up and is a bigger aerial threat as well.
Watkins’ track record in the Premier League is why Amorim preferred him over Sesko, but there is a feeling at the club that the RB Leipzig star is easier to sign.
Aston Villa’s stance that he is not for sale made it clear to Manchester United that this deal could drag on if they pursued it, which is not ideal at all, considering that the new season starts in less than three weeks.
Sesko wouldn’t be a bad signing by any means, but we think Amorim is right to have preferred Watkins over him.
