‘Rubbish’: Sam Allardyce not happy with what he’s been hearing about two Tottenham players recently
Sam Allardyce does not think that Hugo Lloris had any influence on Harry Kane’s penalty miss on Saturday night.
Earlier in the second half, Kane sent Lloris the wrong way to make it 1-1 on the night but when the same chance came to make it 2-2, he blazed over from 12 yards.
But Allardyce told that any suggestion that Lloris’ familiarity with Kane’s game had an impact are wide of the mark.
He says the pressure of the huge spot-kick just got to Kane, which can happen to anyone, and said he is usually so good from the spot.

He said: “There’s key moments in every game when it’s a knockout stage and it’s whether it goes your way or not.
“I don’t get any of that rubbish about Lloris sussed him out because he plays for the same club. I don’t get that. It’s the pure pressure of the event and the time it happened.
“He strikes a penalty so well normally, if he’d struck it like he had the first one, Lloris would have had no chance of stopping it.
“We could have stopped Giroud getting a free header if John Stones had taken two steps back to be where he should have been. We had the strongest squad in the World Cup and the regret is we have to wait another four years.”
Lloris did guess the right way on the penalty and that meant Kane knew he had to get his penalty hit with enough loft again to score it.
Sometimes, Kane will go down the middle on a pressure penalty, making sure it goes on target and expecting the goalkeeper to dive at such a big moment.
Maybe Lloris knew that but it is all hearsay and theories, when only Kane will know what went through his head under such pressure and unfortunately it was not meant to be England’s night again.
