Roy Keane thinks 53-year-old could become Man United’s next manager
Manchester United could appoint a new manager in the summer to replace Erik ten Hag, and Roy Keane has had his say on one of their targets.
The Red Devils haven’t had a great season, have they?
They crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage, are unlikely to finish in the top five in the Premier League and there’s still no real identity about the way they play.
That has put Ten Hag under enormous pressure, and quite a few managers have been linked with the Manchester United hot seat in recent weeks.
Keane has had his say on one of them.

Roy Keane delivers verdict on Manchester United’s managerial target
Erik ten Hag has been at Manchester United for over 18 months now, and he has done a few good things at the club, including winning the League Cup last season.
The Dutchman deserves some praise for the work he has done, especially with the younger players, but he should be doing a lot more, in our opinion.
Manchester United are worse off now than they were last season, and that simply is not good enough for a club of their stature.
That’s why Ten Hag’s future is up in the air, and among all the names linked with the Manchester United job is England boss Gareth Southgate.
revealed recently that the 53-year-old is under consideration by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team as they look for potential candidates to replace Ten Hag.
Roy Keane says he could actually see this move happening.
He said on : “I could see that happening, yeah.
“Everyone is thinking he is probably going to leave England this summer if he has a good championship, thinking if they could win it. And if they don’t you’re thinking maybe you have ran your race with it.
“He has that connection with Dan Ashworth, and has worked with him previously. Yeah [I could see it happening].”

Most Manchester United fans will not be happy with Gareth Southgate
On paper, Gareth Southgate has done a great job with England, leading them to the semi-finals of the World Cup and the final of the Euros.
His relationship with most of his players is brilliant as well – they all speak very highly of him.
However, managing England and managing Manchester United are two very different things. It would be ridiculously more difficult, and the general feeling from fans is that this would be a terrible appointment.
Anton Ferdinand believes United fans will be ‘vexed’ with Southgate’s style of play, which is not attractive at all.
It will be interesting to what will happen in the next few months, but Southgate is not a popular choice among the supporters at all.
