Roy Keane shares the big ‘problem’ Aston Villa now have as he takes aim at £20m player following Manchester City loss
Aston Villa have suffered a huge blow in their hopes of securing Champions League football after losing late on to Manchester City on Tuesday night.
The Villans conceded after just seven minutes when Bernardo Silva fired home after Omar Marmoush cut the ball back for the veteran midfielder.
However, Aston Villa equalised through Marcus Rashford, who coolly slotted past Stefan Ortega from the penalty spot after Jacob Ramsey was brought down by Ruben Dias.
Unai Emery’s charges were closing in on a valuable point, but Manchester City struck deep into injury time to break the visitors’ hearts.
Roy Keane did not pull any punches when it came to his verdict on Villa, also taking aim at one player for his performance on the night.

Roy Keane says Aston Villa goal difference is a ‘problem’ as Emiliano Martinez slated
Keane, speaking on , said Villa’s players will be gutted with their defending and decision-making, saying “they just don’t quite do enough”.
Keane also noted how Villa’s goal difference is a “problem” with regards to their top-five hopes and also criticised Emiliano Martinez for his role in the opener.
The £20million man got his hands to Silva’s effort but it wasn’t enough to keep it out of his net.
“They will be kicking themselves,” said Keane. “It’s a big moment. Villa will be disappointed with their defending and decision-making.
“They just don’t quite do enough. Huge goal for Man City. Absolutely huge. They are running out of games and goal difference is a problem.
“It will be costly at the end of the season for Champions League. There will be twists but when you are in a position to draw and can’t win, don’t lose it!
“You saw the reaction from them, they know how big that moment was.
“It was a big mistake from their goalkeeper too, you don’t need that at this stage of the season. The keeper has to save it.
“They will recover from it. It was players not quite doing their jobs.”
Aston Villa’s Premier League run-in
Aston Villa’s run-in is not particularly favourable, with tricky games against sides in the top half of the table along with two big names who should be doing better.
Fulham and Bournemouth have both been doing well this season and are optimistic of a top-half finish.
Meanwhile, Tottenham and Manchester United have been punching below their weight but can beat anyone on their day.
In addition, Villa’s goal difference is plus five, the lowest out of anyone in the top eight of the table.
