Roy Keane says £40m Manchester United player has seriously improved after FA Cup display
Roy Keane has now been singing the praises of one Manchester United player following today’s FA Cup semi-final win against Coventry City.
Despite winning the game on penalties, Erik ten Hag must be a very conflicted figure right now.

As was nearly the case against Newport County earlier in the season, United let a comfortable lead slip away from them in poor fashion.
Fortunately, the United players showed a much stronger mentality when taking their penalties, even if Casemiro didn’t exactly start things off well.
That being said, when speaking about the game at half-time, which now feels like a long time ago in context of what happened afterwards, Roy Keane was impressed with one United display.
Covering the game for , the pundit perhaps didn’t enjoy much thereafter, but did think Scott McTominay proved how far he had come.
Scoring United’s opener, McTominay took his tally to 10 goals for the season, a remarkable feat given he doesn’t always start.
Roy Keane thinks Scott McTominay has improved so much at United this season
Speaking at half-time, Roy Keane thought the timing of Scott McTominay’s run was the secret to his goal-scoring this season, saying it’s a difficult trait to teach.
Of course, the Scotland international has often been linked with a move away from United, with a price tag of £40m mentioned last summer.
But Keane for one seems happy that he’s stayed, and hailed the way he enters the box: “Which he’s very good at, he’s certainly improved this season at getting in there with the timing of his runs.
“Really poor Coventry, they’ll be disappointed, but very simple for United, an effective ball into McTominay.

“You’ve got the overlap from [Alejandro] Garnacho, it’s about time, quality and he just walks in there and guides in there he doesn’t get drawn in – it’s very hard to coach.”
He then continued: “Bryan Robson used to make the point to me and some other midfielders, never get in there too early.
“It seems a very simple message but McTominay does that well and I don’t know if it can be coached, it’s just about reading it and timing it.
“If you’re in there too early it can obviously go behind you, you can be offside.
“And to just walk in there, literally just walks into it. Bryan Robson, who was pretty good at it let me tell you, if you can’t learn from these types of players you’ll never learn.”
Where does United’s Coventry struggles leave Erik ten Hag?
Of course, Roy Keane’s praise for Scott McTominay aside, today’s shaky performance certainly hasn’t done any favours for Erik ten Hag.
There’s constant speculation over the Manchester United’s manager’s future right now, with names regularly being linked to Old Trafford.
And United surely can’t accept another display like today, even if they were good in the first half as mentioned.
Erik ten Hag isn’t doing enough to suggest he’s the tactician to lead the club forward in their new era, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens next.
