Rangers are reportedly interested in midfielder Josip Vukovic from Portuguese top-flight club Maritimo.
, the Gers are interested in the 26-year-old ahead of the summer transfer transfer window.
It is understood that the Scottish giants are in the race alongside Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Villarreal for the in-demand ace.
Vukovic is impressing during his first season with Maritimo in Liga Nos and is a no-nonsense enforcer that usually sits in front of the back four.
The defensive midfielder helps break up play and is tidy on the ball, while he represented Croatia up to Under-19 at internatonal level as a youngster too.
It’s unclear on if Vukovic could make an impact at Ibrox if Steven Gerrard’s side won the race for him, but interest in another defensive-minded midfielder should alarm Ross McCrorie.

McCrorie is a product of the Rangers academy and has managed to force his way into becoming a first-team regular under Gerrard.
The 20-year-old is a defensive midfielder that has impressed at times for the Gers and has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season.
He is involved in some stiff competition for midfield places as it is and reports that the Gers are looking at bringing in another combative player could limited his action in the long run.
McCrorie is still a developing talent that can have a decent future at Ibrox, but want to be stalled now just when he’s got his foot in the door.
