The return of Rondon could change Newcastle’s fortunes
Salomon Rondon returned to first-team action at the weekend but failed to have a telling impact on Newcastle’s away match against Southampton. However, he did provide a focal point and his cameo role will have encouraged supporters.
The on-loan striker was believed to be Rafa Benitez’s main target during the summer, but he has yet to fully settle at Newcastle. This has been due to a lack of pre-season and niggly injuries.
Benitez will be hoping to have his number nine available for the coming weeks and his presence could be crucial. Rondon will add physicality to the attack that has been desperately missing.

Newcastle have failed to score in their last two matches. Their lack of creativity has been a huge issue. They are set-up to play lots of crosses into the box, but their front two have been too lightweight to take advantage.
Rondon will solve that issue and if the midfielders can improve their service into the striker, he will score goals.
It is crucial that Newcastle get their first win on the board soon, as they are at risk of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table. Rondon could be ready to change the team’s fortunes.
