Dutch national team boss Ronald Koeman has been singing the praises of a Rangers player this week.
The Netherlands take on Northern Ireland tonight and will be coming up against Ibrox hero Steven Davis.
Steven Gerrard lured the three-time Scottish Premier League winner back to Ibrox in January from Southampton. Davis enjoyed a good spell at St Mary’s, where Koeman was his manager from 2014 to 2016 and had his best season at the club in 2015-16 under the Dutchman.
Koeman praised the work-rate of the 113-cap international, who will hope to get one over his old boss this evening.
“You like to have all the players like him because he is a great professional.
“Quality player, he’s good on the ball and he’s the captain. Plus, he is always working.
“That’s what you like to have everybody [like him] in your team.”
TBR’s View
There is no doubt that Rangers fans have long forgiven Davis for the controversial manner in which he left Glasgow in 2012.
He has come back to add experience to Gerrard’s team at Ibrox and has been key to their turnaround in fortunes under the new management.
Rangers fans will undoubtedly be hoping that Davis can get the better of Koeman this week and come back to Ibrox with plenty of confidence for the club’s continuing title battle with Old Firm rivals Celtic.
