Roma’s £21m move for ‘world class’ attacker on hold after claims Tottenham have entered race
Roma’s move for a highly-rated attacker on the continent is now on hold after rumours Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for his signature this summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a positive first season under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou and now the onus will be to build on that.
After a fifth-placed finish, Postecoglou will be eager to return the club to the illustrious Champions League but to do that, he’ll need backing in the window.
Spurs have already signed Timo Werner, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, who has impressed in pre-season, and they’re now looking to potentially hijack a deal for an exciting winger.

Roma’s deal for Federico Chiesa on hold
According to , via , Roma had a £21m deal agreed with Juventus to sign jet-heeled winger Federico Chiesa, who has been labelled ‘world class’ per .
However, in recent days, the deal has been put on hold and there have been several reports in that timeframe which claim Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a bid for Chiesa.
It’s understood that Spurs are keen to accelerate a deal for the 26-year-old this week as interest mounts in the Italian.
The Lilywhites face stiff competition from Chelsea for his signature, so they want to steal a march and get a deal done as soon as possible.
Spurs have put a £96,000-a-week contract on the table for Chiesa, who at this stage, isn’t keen on a move to Romo, instead preferring the Premier League as his next destination.
Federico Chiesa fits the bill
Tottenham are thought to be in the market for a versatile forward this summer and Chiesa fits that mould to a tee.
The Italy international, who netted 10 times for Juve last season, can operate in a number of different roles across the forward line.
Chiesa can ply his trade-off both flanks and as a second striker, so if Spurs were to land his signature, he’d provide great depth in multiple areas.
In other news, Sevilla have made contact to sign ‘hugely talented’ Tottenham player who joined in 2021.
